The Interplanetary Internet Race 2.0, hosted by ISOC India Mumbai, featured a landmark session with Internet pioneer and ISOC co-founder, Dr. Vinton Cerf. Dr. Cerf shared groundbreaking insights on the evolution of deep-space communication, highlighting the limitations of traditional TCP/IP and introducing Delay and Disruption Tolerant Networking (DTN) as the key to interplanetary connectivity. He traced decades of testing on Mars rovers, the ISS, and lunar missions, while also addressing critical policy, legal, and security challenges in space governance. The session energized young minds and emphasized the need for global collaboration, innovation, and inclusive leadership to build a secure and sustainable Internet—on Earth and beyond.
